In the quest for a remarkable escape from the city hustle, Colorado offers boundless opportunities for outdoor adventure. As a self-proclaimed haven for all things strange and mystical, this weekend’s expedition took us to the vast San Luis Valley. Fueled by a shared obsession with the unexplained, my partner and I embarked on a very “on brand” roadtrip for us. Think, eerie alien podcasts, speculative discussions, and awe-inspiring landscapes. Our destination? The enigmatic UFO watchtower in Hooper, Colorado. Unveiling the San Luis Valley’s Mysterious Allure
Nestled within the vast expanse of Highway 17, the San Luis Valley has long been a magnet for inexplicable phenomena. Tales of celestial lights, unidentified aircraft, and even mysterious cattle occurrences have woven an air of mystique around this region.

Standing inconspicuously along the highway lies an unassuming yet captivating roadside gem – the UFO watchtower. Since its establishment in 2000, this attraction has beckoned those with an affinity for the bizarre. For a modest $2 entrance fee, the gateway to an otherworldly experience awaits.
Venturing into the watchtower and its surrounding garden, you’ll be met with a peculiar ambiance. While time constraints prevented further exploration, the allure of nearby marvels such as the local Gator Farm, the awe-inspiring Great Sand Dunes, and the infamous town of Crestone, CO, will definitely have us returning to the far out region.
